DFARight--No Discussion, Just Some Comment
A Communication from Democracy for America
Hi Monica Smith - As you know, we have made many changes over the years to the Democracy for America websites, including the Blog for America. As with all other aspects of DFA, we have made changes based on feedback, suggestions, and ideas provided by members of our community. No suggestions of mine have been considered. Nor have I even been given the courtesy of responses to my reports of technical problems to staff. DFA staff work hard to bring together the needs and wants of our membership, the organizing tools that can empower and mobilize activists, and the goals and missions of the overall progressive movement. Unfortunately, the members of my group, almost a hundred strong, find it virtually impossible to negotiate the web site and so it is useless to them. After years of receiving numerous complaints and in consultation with members and state leaders throughout the country, we instituted a new policy for commenting on the Blog for America. STICK A FORK IN HILLARY......SHE'S DONE!
STICK A FORK IN HILLARY......SHE'S DONE! by Jeff Morris
Published Tuesday, 02/26/08 @ 6:45 am. Linked to Kingston Democracy for America. I admit that I'm borrowing a line from someone else here. I'm using it because I think it describes the situation in Team Clinton's camp perfectly. It now comes down to MARCH "4th AND LONG" for Sen Clinton. It's definitely "Hail Mary" time. After being up in the polls by 20+ points for many months, Team Clinton has to wonder "what happened?" At the debate in Austin, Sen. Clinton said she was honored to share the stage with Sen Obama. There was a truce, a reconciliation. For a moment there I thought they were going to kiss! Then for the next three days, she rips into him for what she said was a dirty campaign of misinformation regarding her health care plan. She's looking more like Sen. "Cybil" Clinton the past few days. Knowing that she's trailing, Hillary is desperate now. She doesn't want the debate tonight in Cleveland to be the last. The possibility of Obama slipping up badly in a debate could be her best bet on getting back in the race at this point. Hillary is trying hard to get Barack to agree to further debates. Consider primary endorsement. Plan "Sicko" viewing for Nov. 14 Review NH House races and candidate solicitation. DFALink-up Review
We welcomed first-timer Ryan Silver from the Chris Dodd campaign and got an update on their steering committee on the Seacoast, as well as a heads-up about the Senator's next visit to New Hampshire on October 18-21.
Our major attraction for the evening was Dr. Jay Buckey (accompanied by Jay Jr.) who let us quiz him to our hearts' content. That the good doctor, a candidate for the United States Senate from New Hampshire, is a strong proponent of universal health care and an emphasis on preventive care didn't need a lot of explaining. (There's lots of detail on his campaign page, which I urge you to consult and, if it appeals to you, sign up). Positive evaluations are wanted for letters to the editor. Four Steps to Victory Tour w/Jim Dean,Terie NorelliTue, 09/25/2007 - 7:30pm Tracy Town Hall, Norwich, VT This fall Jim Dean will be traveling across America on the Four Steps to Victory Tour, Building a People-Powered America and getting activists energized and organized for the upcoming elections. We’re kicking off the tour right here in New England on September 25 at 7:30 pm. The day before the presidential debate at Dartmouth, we hope to draw a large crowd of grassroots activists that are eager to get involved (or re-involved) with DFA and the progressive movement. This is a low-dollar fundraiser for DFA, and it is free and open to the public. We’re holding the event at the Tracy Town Hall in Norwich, VT, just five minutes from Hanover. I Hate to Telephone
Got an email today from DFA asking me to call the Governor and tell him to let Bush Two know that re-writing the rules on healthcare for kids is a blow that's just too low.
Since, I really hate to make phone calls, I'm looking for volunteers. The particulars are: By monica smith at 08/22/2007 - 13:14 | DFA | Health care | monica smith's blog | 1 comment | read more
