Members and friends of NashuaPeace.org will hold a candlelight "Vote For Peace" rally in front of Nashua City Hall, Main Street, Nashua on Monday evening, January 7th at 6 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend.
NashuaPeace.org advocates a speedy end to the war in Iraq, does not support any political candidate. The group holds a regular peace vigil in front of Nashua City Hall from 11 to noon every Saturday. They always welcome new participants.

Veteran's Day - Nashua

In commemoration of Veteran's Day, NashuaPeace.org which advocates a speedy end to the war in Iraq, will read aloud the names of those U.S. soldiers who have died in the Iraq war since May of this year. Over 3000 names were read by group members and volunteers in May on Memorial Day 2007. Reading begins at 10 a.m. on Library Hill, downtown Nashua (corner of Concord, Main and Broad Streets) on Sunday, Veteran's Day, November 11th. Anyone who would like to participate is welcome. The group invites citizens who want to see the killing end to contact Senator Sununu, pointing out that if a few Republican senators start working for an end to the war, we might see a rational plan to bring it to a conclusion.

Citizens Action of Southern NH presents "IRAQ FOR SALE: The War Profiteers".

Acclaimed director Robert Greenwald (Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, Outfoxed and Uncovered) takes you inside the lives of soldiers, truck drivers, widows and children who have been changed forever as a result of profiteering in the reconstruction of Iraq. Iraq for Sale uncovers the connections between private corporations making a killing in Iraq and the decision makers who allow them to do so.

The film runs 1 hour 15 minutes, and will be followed by a 15 minute discussion period. Seating is limited to 75 people - so best to arrive by 3:45.

The theater is located downstairs at the library, 2 Court St, Nashua NH 03060. Follow signs for parking.

Why allow big business to design a voting system

It does nottake a genius to have a paper trail for voting,think about it carefully.
All you do is have at each polling station a secure sealed certified computer, that A; prints out a ballot sheet which has a serial number allocated against it (done in sequence). B; The voter then goes to a metal template and with a permanent marker blocks out the squares for there candidates choice. C; Then this ballot sheet is scanned into the computer and the printer also prints out a hard copy (this goes into the ballot box). D; The voter then takes there original with them.Now you have an original and a copy in the ballot box plus the computer scanned version (the voting program can at each station calculate each candidates votes and place on a secure hard drive).E;The whole computer system and ballot boxes then go to a central station for auditing plus the voter has there original...any recount can request each voter to return for a check of there origianl ballot...how simple! Those are the latest words from Lee Scott, the CEO of Wal-Mart, who is notorious for his approach to workers' rights. We know all about Wal-Mart's misdeeds and concerted efforts to deny its employees a voice at work. But the company's own CEO needs a reality check!

Saturday May 28th from 9-3pm at the Unitarian Church on 58 Lowell Street in Nashua
(Big White church on the Hill off of Canal street - across the street from Dunkin Donuts)

Bring Stuff Friday May 27th from 6-9pm or Saturday Morning to the church.

Proceeds of this sale go pay legal expenses to fight the Walmart development on 420 Amherst Street. (Current site of Building 19)
Walmart Corporation wants to demolish Building 19 to build a new 186,000 superstore on this wetland area. Such a massive development would threaten the quality of our drinking water, increase the likelyhood of flooding and greater traffic congestion on this already very busy road.
