Governor Lynch responds to DFA health care action alert

In response to a recent email alert from Democracy for America, asking DFA members to call New Hampshire Governor John Lynch regarding George W.
Bush's health care policies, the Governor's office would like to inform the
membership of Democracy for New Hampshire about the Governor's efforts to maintain
excellent health care for the children of the Granite State. This information
 is provided below.

DFNH members who would like to respond to DFA's call to health care arms to
try to influence White House policies might be better served by contacting
 our two
 Republican Senators than
our Democratic Governor, who clearly has his eye on the ball when it comes
to health care for kids in the Granite State.

Governor John Lynch and Children's Health Insurance

Gov. Lynch is deeply committed to expanding children's health insurance coverage
in New Hampshire. He has repeatedly said that be believes the creation of New
Hampshire's Healthy Kids Children's Health Insurance Program one of the best
things the state has every done.

Yankee Republicans, go home!
Don't look now but New Hampshire may be casting a blue shadow over the '08 presidential race.

By Walter Shapiro

Dec. 20, 2006 | You do not pass many Democrats on the way to John Lynch's office, just long corridors of stern portraits of prior New Hampshire governors, each an enduring testament to the state's rock-ribbed Republican past.

But the mild-mannered Lynch, a businessman turned politician, is presiding over the most dramatic revival of the Democratic Party anywhere. The governor's secret weapons are pragmatism, moderation and amiability, a three-part formula unlikely to appeal to the go-for-the-jugular partisans who demand that the Democrats ape Republican tactics. As Lynch put it, "I really go out of my way to be bipartisan in my approach involving Republicans and Democrats. I just try to put partisan politics aside and focus on the issues."
Guv vetoes voter suppression legislation!

Editor's note: New Hampshire's own Governor Lynch stands out as a bright star in support of voter rights and election integrity. Don't forget to thank the Governor for his veto of House Bill 1566.

Veto Message of Governor John H. Lynch

Regarding House Bill 1566

By the authority vested in me as Governor of New Hampshire, pursuant to Part II, Article 44 of the Constitution of New Hampshire, on May 23, 2006, I vetoed HB 1566, an act relative to the definitions of resident for motor vehicle law purposes and domicile for voting purposes and relative to vehicle registration and driver's license requirements.

We need to encourage all New Hampshire citizens to vote and to participate fully in our democracy. We also need to ensure that our election laws do not unfairly burden those voters that have recently established a domicile in New Hampshire and are qualified to vote in this state.
Gov. Lynch Says New Hampshire Will Protect Its Primary Tradition
Tells DNC Chairman that Commission Has Lost Sight of Its Mission

CONCORD - Gov. John Lynch today wrote Democratic National
Committee Chairman Howard Dean to tell him that New Hampshire
will protect its primary tradition, and to call on Dean to show
leadership to ensure that the original goals of the Commission are not lost.

"It has become increasingly clear that the Primary Commission has
lost sight of its mission, devolving into an exercise focused solely on removing New Hampshire from its traditional role in the nominating process.

Governor Lynch stands strong on Mount Sunapee expansion proposal

Let's show some support for Governor Lynch. He is receiving increasing pressure from
members of the Executive Council to produce a contract that they can consider
 for the expansion
of the Mount Sunapee recreation area. Governor Lynch has
consistently stated he will veto any plans for expansion, and contends that
it would be a waste of taxpayer money to draw up a contract that he will veto.

What can you do?
