Tonight at our meetup one of our members related a story of how he had recently been "banned from Hannafords grocery store, for Life." He and his wife had been out registering people to vote in a parking lot, where he had permission from the lead store that managed the shopping area. When told it was ok as long as he stayed in the parking lot, he began working with his clipboard to register Vermont voters.

Suddenly he was accosted by two managers from the nearby (central) Hannafords store who asked him to leave. He explained that he had permission. They, unsatisfied, left him alone while he worked one end of the parking lot (far away from the grocery store) and his wife worked across the lot. When he walked back to his wife on the other side of the lot, crossing in front of the Hannafords, he was again haranged and did not cross the lot till he was ready to go home, then walked way out by the street carefully avoiding Hannafords to get to his car. When in his car he heard a tapping. It was a police officer telling him he was banned from Hannafords for Life...
A similiar event occured to myself and my friends, when we were doing a visibility in Chesterfield NH, and a DOT person came by and told us we had to leave or he would call the police.
