The fallacy of relying on recounts: Franken camp finds 6,400 uncounted absentee ballotsNH Diebold enthusiasts and the Department of State routinely cite the manual recount as a justification for corporate-controlled secret vote counting of nearly 90% of NH ballots on election night. Minnesota is discovering what citizen watchdogs uncovered in the 2008 NH Primary recount: if you can't verify the first count on election night - and nobody can verify the integrity of a secret count conducted within a computer programmed and controlled by a private corporation - how do you expect the recount to be trustworthy when there is no secure ballot chain of custody? What a system we have! On election night, we throw our votes into a black box owned by a private corporation with no citizen oversight and wait to be told "the results". Then we throw the paper ballots into a black hole with no citizen oversight, and show up days or weeks later for a "recount" and wait to be told "the results" again. No wonder there is no accountability in Washington. Franken camp finds 6,400 uncounted absentee ballots Filed by Nick Juliano SOURCE: http://rawstory.com With the recount in the razor-thin Minnesota U.S. Senate race continuing into its second week, Democratic candidate Al Franken's campaign says it has uncovered 6,400 rejected absentee ballots and will ask a state board to count at least some of those votes. |
