Sierra Club victory partySun, 12/14/2008 - 4:30pm Concord IBEW Dear Sierra Club Fan We did it! Thank you for your work to help elect environmental candidates up and down the NH ballot! We’ve helped to elect Barack Obama President, Jeanne Shaheen to the US Senate, Paul Hodes and Carol Shea-Porter to Congress and over 90 environmentally friendly state legislators. These elected officials will lead us toward a clean energy economy that will create good jobs and protect the environment. Over 1,000 NH Sierra Club members and supporters volunteered their time knocking on doors, making phone calls, doing data entry, holding signs, and even making food to keep the campaign workers fed. We're so proud of all your hard work. Its time to celebrate! Join us on Sunday December 14th at 4:30pm at the Concord IBEW Hall for a Victory Party. We'll have free food and drink, share Election stories, and get the chance to check out all the cool clean energy technology located at the IBEW's state of the art training facility. Sign up today! Check out Sierra Club Volunteer Stories from the Election Below: Eric Merberg from Lebanon: I was in a development in West Lebanon where two girls younger than 10 were enjoying the sunny day. They had a baby in the stroller with them. As I walked past them, one of them sounded out the words on the back of my T-Shirt. "Obama. New. Energy. For. America." All three of them followed me to watch me knock the next door. Future environmentalists of America! John Hattan from Concord: At one point canvassing with my brother, Peter, in West Salisbury, a heretofore virtually un-canvassed territory, we were greeted at a doorway by a large, coarsely haired, black and white pig...who proceeded to nudge me in the leg. His owner shooed him away somewhat unsuccessfully as he was able to get one more nudge in... I was so glad to be out and even though Salisbury was the only town in Merrimack county to have more votes for McCain and Sununu, I like to think it was a closer race because we are out there." Don't forget! RSVP today for NH Sierra Club's Victory Party Sunday December 14th, 4:30pm, IBEW Hall, Concord. Sincerely, Marie Bergen NH SIerra Club 40 N Main Street, 2nd Floor Concord, NH 03301 603-224-8222 marie.bergen@sierraclub.org PS-Help us shape the direction of the NH Chapter!
