In addition to a basket of little things that people can do to make election day even more pleasant, someone suggested in a comment that a wheel chair for the halt or weary would come in handy in case of long lines.

So, if you've got an old wheelchair or transport chair sitting around, consider taking it over to the polling place and offering people rides from their cars. There are a lot of people who drive themselves, but don't do well if they have to walk too far or stand for a long time.

Whether "borrowing" one from one's place of employment, as the poster suggests, is an option, I don't know. But, it probably wouldn't hurt to ask, as long as you promise to bring it back. Wonder if the local super market would be willing to lend one of those self-propelled shopping carts for a day.
