DFNH receives two letters of support for Sgambati

TO THE EDITOR:

I not only feel but know how fortunate I am to be living in New Hampshire’s Senate District 4,which means I have Kathy Sgambati as my State Senator. What she has legislatively managed to achieve for all of us in a mere two years is nothing short of miraculous. Through her experience as the former Deputy Commissioner for Health and Human Services, her constant hard work has resulted in an impressive list of first term accomplishments – in fact, more than I shall list here since my particular concern is with protecting the environment.

Senator Sgambati was placed on the Senate Energy, Environment & Economic Development Committee. I believe environmental protections are essential not only to our state’s economy and our nation’s security but to protecting the health of our citizens and to preserving the character of our state.

The Renewable Energy Act ensured NH utility operators would generate a portion of their power from renewable sources.

An emergency relief fund was created to help NH family dairy farms when milk prices fall. And the Land Conservation & Historic Preservation Program was funded to protect forests, open space and historic buildings.

I have not mentioned Senator Sgambati’s work on Health Care for children and seniors, on Education, on Economic Development (particularly as it concerns small businesses). It is no wonder her work has been recognized both nationally and statewide: The American Medical Association considers her, “This nation’s outstanding senator;” The NH Women’s Lobby considers her an “Outstanding legislator” for increasing access to health care; and the Concord Monitor declared her “MVP” for her work on the state budget.

I can hardly wait for Nov. 4th to cast my vote for Kathy Sgambati, my truly remarkable State Senator.

-----------------------

We have been fortunate to have the excellent representation of Senator Kathy Sgambati for two years. We'll be even more fortunate to have her fighting for our interests in the coming two.

It is not an easy path to balance the public's demand for quality public services, a healthy environment, our personal freedoms and prosperity and still be considered "NH frugal." But that's exactly what Senator Sgambati does so well.

The next two years will pose even greater challenges. Kathy's commitment to listen to her constituents, combined with her fine capacity to find real solutions to problems that have plagued NH for years, and her compassion to do what's right means our district will weather this economic storm.

None of us knows how long it's going to take turn the situation around. But Kathy knows the importance of working together and watching out for people in their hour of need. She will stand guard in Concord and make sure NH keeps its promise to its citizens. She will ask the tough questions that need to be asked; and even if the right answer is something that's hard to hear, she'll listen, talk to her constituents and then carefully and cautiously act. This is her way, and it will be our way, if we re-elect her on November 4th. I encourage you to cast your vote for Kathy Sgambati.
