Sgambati asks for Neighbor Helping Neighbor community action
Dear Constituents,
On October 18th, I will be hosting a "Neighbor Helping Neighbor" event with other concerned members of the community. A Yard Sale, Silent Auction, Bone Marrow Drive and Bake Sale will be held at the Opechee Park House at 867 North Main in Laconia Street, across from Central Fire Station from 8:30am to 2:30pm this Saturday. The event is being sponsored in a response to the concerns expressed by our communities about shortages in the food pantries and the heating emergencies that could occur, given the cost of fuel this winter. This community wide event will, in a small way, begin to help fill local pantries. Funds raised will be donated to the fuel assistance programs to provide for emergency needs. We are also pleased that we will be joined by Giovanni’s dad so you can learn more about becoming a bone marrow donor to help Giovanni’s friends. I am sure that many have followed the story of young Giovanni Guglielmo who needed a transplant. While Giovanni has found a donor, his family continues to work to help others in need. So please join us – you may find the bargain you have been looking for or find something at the bake sale to sweeten your day. Regardless, you will be helping our neighbors in need. The admission is one non perishable food item -- or one dollar if you forget your can of vegetables. If you have items to donate, we have drop-off locations in Laconia, Tilton and Gilford. Please call Hedi at 528-4749 to arrange a drop off time at any of these locations. Or you can email us at mike.sgambati@gmail.com. If you would like to rent a table ($20) to raise money for your own heating budget, just please call or email us to reserve one. Thank you, Kathy Sgambati, State Senator, District 4 |
