July 23, 2008 Presidential Election Audit Finds Every Vote Doesn't Count

As California and the rest of the nation prepare to elect a new president, a man who claims he has proof that election fraud was committed in the 2004 Ohio Presidential election says he fears a repeat this November.

After spending three years investigating the election, Richard Hayes Phillips says he has evidence the state's election was rigged in hundreds of different ways. He says he was shocked, but not surprised, by what he found. "I knew the election results could not be true and correct, and I knew that I was likely to find evidence of election fraud, but for the most part I had no idea what those methods would be."

Philllips says the country needs to change the voting system. He recommends a return to hand-counted paper ballots.

"This is a crime and people need to be held accountable, because if there is motive, means and opportunity, and no penalty for cheating, this is never going to stop."

Phillips and a team of volunteers examined and photographed thousands of ballots, poll books and voter logs. He claims they found pre-punched ballots, rigged voting machines and evidence of vote switching. A partial recount of the Ohio election results did not significantly reduce President Bush's margin of victory over challenger John Kerry. Phillips is in California promoting his book, "Witness to a Crime." More information is available at www.witnesstoacrime.com.
