Bob Backus announces bid to run for state senate - District 16
For Immediate Release
Manchester - Today Bob Backus announced his intention to run for State Senate in District 16. "I am running to protect our New Hampshire values—to ensure that we provide not just an adequate education but an excellent education for all students, to create "green collar" jobs to improve our environment and economy, and to improve public safety by supporting our law enforcement community. The families of District 16 deserve attentive and responsive representation in Concord and a Senator who will fight for them." "I have spent my career representing citizens who are committed to serving the public interest, and as a mediator, I know how to bring people together to solve problems." Bob was born and raised in Goffstown, New Hampshire. He attended both public schools and the Holderness school. He went to Wesleyan for his undergraduate degree and received his law degree (cum laude) from Harvard. Bob started his law firm in Manchester nearly forty years ago and since then he has worked tirelessly on environmental and energy issues. Bob has served on the boards of several organizations, including the Conservation Law Foundation, Campaign for Ratepayers' Rights and the Nuclear Information and Research Service. Bob has two adult children and he lives with his wife Carol in Manchester. Senate District 16 comprises: Bow, Candia, Dunbarton, Hooksett and Wards 1, 2 and 12 in the city of Manchester. #### |
