PETERBOROUGH --- To meet projected energy needs, policy makers,
communities and citizens are rallying, some choosing renewable power
with others seeking to promote coal, oil and nuclear. On Wednesday,
December 12th at 7:00 pm, “Kilowatt Ours” will be screened at the
Peterborough Unitarian Universalist Church at 25 Main St. in
Peterborough. The sixty-five minute documentary, makes a strong case
for renewables and conservation. A discussion about the film and
regional efforts will follow.

“Kilowatt Ours” reveals the underreported side effects resulting from
America’s voracious appetite for coal-generated electricity. Filmmaker
Jeff Barrie takes viewers from our light switches at home to the
sources of our energy, examining social and environmental consequences
such as global warming, mountain top removal, air pollution, childhood
asthma and mercury contamination.

And like our own communities, the day-to-day cost-saving applications
of renewable energy merit reporting. Barrie showcases accessible and
affordable solutions through hope-filled examples of conservation,
efficiency and renewable power at work today. “Kilowatt Ours” presents
viewers with an ambitious plan for shifting America’s energy paradigm
towards conservation and renewable power.

Sponsored by the Congregation’s Social Justice Committee and Worldview,
Ltd., the event is free and open to the general public. For more info:
