BREAKING NEWS: SEIU New Hampshire Endorses John Edwards
On Saturday, 75 members of the carpenters union loaded up their cars and drove down to Nashua to show their support for John Edwards. Nothing could have demonstrated organized labor's strong commitment to John Edwards more than the sight of 75 carpenters standing out in the rain, knocking on doors and doing their part to ensure that John Edwards is our next President. More than any candidate in history, John Edwards has demonstrated his commitment to organized labor by "walking the walk" and helping workers across the country in organizing drives, contract fights and on the picket line. This endorsement will significantly aid the campaign by providing Edwards with financial resources and volunteers in New Hampshire. [The endorsement will also prevent other state SEIU chapters from sending volunteers to New Hampshire to campaign for either Obama or Clinton. This is the 12th state SEIU endorsement that Edwards has won; the others include key states such as Iowa, Massachusetts and California. In response to tonight's news our State Director here in New Hampshire, Beth Leonard, issued the following statement: "We are thrilled to have the support of the the hard-working families of the New Hampshire State Employees' Association (SEIU local 1984). John Edwards' commitment to guaranteeing universal health care, the work he has done standing shoulder-to-shoulder with organized labor and his strength as the candidate who can win the general election next year and bring a pro-union, pro-working family agenda to the White House have earned him this critical support in New Hampshire. John Edwards is proud to have the strong endorsement of the SEA and looks forward to working with the men and women of SEIU in New Hampshire to build One America where every single American has health care coverage and where everyone who works hard has the chance to get ahead." I hope you’re just as excited as excited as I am about this important victory. This is just the beginning of victories for John Edwards in New Hampshire.
