Leadership Summit on Breast Cancer

Tue, 11/06/2007 - 11:00am

Norris Cotton Cancer Center in Lebanon

Every woman diagnosed with breast cancer is someone’s sister, mother, best friend, or child. And until we find a cure that helps every one of them beat it, we need to keep looking. You get it. We get it. But how can we make it happen?

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women in New Hampshire, and in the United States. It is an epidemic, and we need to ensure the 2008 presidential candidates know that finding a cure is a priority for two million breast cancer survivors and their loved ones. That’s why, on Tuesday, Nov. 6, Susan G. Komen for the Cure is holding a Leadership Summit on Breast Cancer at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center in Lebanon from 10:00 a.m. to Noon.

We will gather with speakers such as Hala Moddelmog, President & CEO of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and Norris Cotton Cancer Center Director Dr. Mark Israel, for a first-ever look at Komen’s new State of Breast Cancer Report and discussion of the importance of translating research into patient care.

We will also launch our historic new campaign, I Vote For the Cure (TM), which will educate voters and challenge the presidential candidates to make breast cancer a priority – in their platforms, and for our country. As a special attraction, spouses of presidential candidates have been invited to share how their White House will work to end breast cancer forever.

You’re in a unique position to help us spread the word in New Hampshire. Will you help by posting about the New Hampshire Komen Community Challenge, or by posting a banner on your blog? Just copy and paste the code below - it only takes a few minutes, but it can make an enormous difference.

We’re on a mission to end breast cancer forever. In just the past ten years, over 2,000 New Hampshire women have died of breast cancer. We believe that is too many New Hampshire families torn apart by this disease. We want the 2008 presidential hopefuls know that New Hampshire’s citizens are rallying to Vote for the Cure and that we will all keep fighting until we end breast cancer forever. Thank you for your part in helping us to turn this goal into reality.

Hope to see you there,
