Share the Apple--Not
How do you share an apple with someone who wants the whole one for himself? That’s the question Democrats recently elected to Congress should ask themselves.
It’s been a long time since the corporate elite and their political lackeys, Republican and Democrat, have recognized that the reason corporations were granted the status of persons was based on the assumption that they represented the interests of their shareholders, not just in making a profit but in delivering a high quality of goods and services. Indeed, in the last two decades they seem to have forgotten that they were expected to produce anything at all. Instead, the corporate elite have found it increasingly attractive to dabble in the financial markets and gamble that paper assets and imaginary value would be sufficient to keep them and the country on track. America has been transformed into a nation of consumers and middle-men which runs on a combination of bribery and threats. The bribes are designed to placate the population and the threats aim to keep the rest of the globe subservient to our will. But, if the misadventure in Iraq has demonstrated anything, it’s that a nation that sends missiles after guerrillas is not to be feared. Which is why Senator Chris Dodd can assert without contradiction that America needs to be able to stand up again. Just think what that means! America has been brought to its knees by a nation of sheep herders and traders. Not because its military assets were lacking, but because the whole country is being run by people who don’t know how to do anything. It’s not just a do-nothing Congress that’s to blame; its a regime in which not doing is the operative meme. They can’t uphold the Constitution because they don’t even know how. But they know what they want. They want the whole apple and, if they were to get it, they’d want two more. There’s no compromising with people like that and it’s way past time that our Democratic representatives catch on to that. The corporate and the ruling elite need to be removed. They’re dinosaurs that the rest of the globe, like toys that have outlasted their purpose, has already rejected. Which leaves Americans with the choice of catching up or falling further behind.
