Going back to school green tips from Sierra Club
Green Back to School Tips from the Sierra Club
Check out 10 easy things you can do to reduce global warming pollution as your family gets ready to go back to school: 1. Pack school lunches in reusable lunchboxes. 2. Make lunches with local produce. 3. Walk, bike, or take the bus to get to and from school. 4. If walking, biking, or public transportation is unavailable start a neighborhood carpool. 5. Make sure to turn off your engine while you are waiting to pick up students. 6. Before you head to the store for school supplies make sure you can't reuse pencils, pens, and paper that may be left over from last year. 7. When buying school supplies look for those that have been made from recycled materials. 8. Buy your kids a refillable water bottle. 9. When your kids finish using the computer for homework make sure to cut the computer off at the power strip to keep transformers from continuing to draw power even when the computer is "off." 10. Sign the Sierra Club petition asking our leaders to cut global warming pollution 80% by 2050. |
