Presentation of "Hacking Democracy", a timely, 81-minute documentary exposing the vulnerabilities of electronic voting machines. Bev Harris was an ordinary American who fortuitously discovered the code to the Diebold scanning machines at a folder on the web. Armed with the voting code and after a series of risky adventures dumpster diving at Diebold headquarters, she and a small band of committed activists took their discoveries to Washington. Ms. Harris later wrote the book "Black Box Voting" in which she describes the hundreds of election frauds dating back to the mid-90s, and the many possibilities for fraud to occur in the future. Her discoveries are now of national focus, including an NPR report of 8/3/07. Her book will be available at the library for purchase, as well as free informational materials.
