Jay Buckey Launches US Senate Campaign With 10-County Tour on Anniversary of Moon Landing
CONCORD, NH - Former astronaut Jay Buckey, MD will launch his campaign for United States Senate with a 10-county tour throughout New Hampshire, beginning on Friday, July 20th. Friday marks the 38th anniversary of the successful completion of President John F. Kennedy's Apollo project, the unprecedented effort to put a man on the moon within 10 years.
“The Moon landing reminds us what we can accomplish when we work together,” said Buckey. “Our country now needs a new Apollo program for energy -- so we can end our dependence on foreign oil, protect our climate, and keep our status as a leader in the changing global economy.” The campaign launch will include a press conference in Concord at the New Hampshire Technical Institute on Friday, July 20th at 12:30pm. Buckey will make stops in all 10 New Hampshire counties over the course of the weekend in a tour that includes farmers' markets, festivals, picnics, and a house party. "Our campaign will be a conversation with New Hampshire citizens about how we can work together to solve the problems we face as a state and a nation,” said Buckey. “We have an opportunity to be inspired by a new Apollo program for energy, and I believe my background in science, technology and the space program has prepared me to be a leader in this effort." The Buckey campaign also will launch a new website on Friday, July 20th and will open the doors of its first office on Saturday, July 21st in Lebanon. Visit the campaign website for more information.
