Rally for fuel efficiencyMon, 05/07/2007 - 3:00pm Ft Eddy Rd/Loudon Rd Concord, NH EVENT DATE: May 7, 2007 4PM For More Information: Jan Pendlebury Ft Eddy Rd/Loudon Rd Tele 603-224-1955 Concord, NH Cell 603-660-0905 Environmentalists, peace activists, faith leaders and consumer advocates call on Senator Sununu to support strong fuel efficiency measures including pickup trucks. Join us Monday, May 7 at 4 PM at the corner of Ft. Eddy Rd and Loudon Rd, in the green area in front of the Kinko’s-Boston Market complex to call upon Senator Sununu to support legislation to raise fuel efficiency standards and increase fuel economy for pickup trucks. Senator Sununu has a real opportunity to demonstrate leadership and make strides in reducing our dependence on foreign oil by supporting legislation to increase fuel efficiency. The Feinstein-Snowe Fuel Economy Bill, S. 357, will be voted on Tuesday in the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee. Senator Sununu is a key member of this committee. We need his support for strong fuel economy legislation that will include increasing fuel economy for pickup trucks. Our continued dependence on foreign oil to fuel our vehicles is an ever present danger to our National security. The technology to increase fuel efficiency and close the light truck loophole is available now and we should make this a national priority. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change experts recently wrote the prescription to slow down global warming; eighty percent reduction of greenhouse gases by 2050. Increasing fuel efficiency standards and pickup truck fuel economy is a bold step in the right direction. With spiraling increases in gasoline costs, Granite staters and citizens across the nation are stressed out at the pump. Recent polling by the National Environmental Trust demonstrates that pickup truck owners overwhelmingly support better fuel economy. ### |
