PSU Presents Rural Health Expert Dr. James Squires May 16Wed, 05/16/2007 - 11:00am HUB Student Senate Room at PSU PSU Presents Rural Health Expert Dr. James Squires May 16 Event Focuses on Future of Rural Health Care in New Hampshire PLYMOUTH, N.H- Every year, thousands of New Hampshire residents go without critical medical care, because they can’t afford it or don’t have access to it. It is one of the most critical problems now facing our region and country. Obstacles for providing better health care to rural communities include: lack of transportation to medical facilities, difficulty in attracting and maintaining rural health providers, limited access to health insurance, and more. How does the Granite State begin to address the issue? PSU’s Center for Rural Partnerships presents Dr. James Squires, President of the New Hampshire Endowment for Health, in a seminar discussing this important issue. Dr. Squires will speak about ‘Key Issues in Rural Health and Wellness in New Hampshire’ on Wednesday, May 16, at noon in the HUB Student Senate Room at PSU. The event is free and open to the public. This lecture is part of the Rural Health and Wellness monthly meetings which occur on the second Wednesday of each month in the HUB. These meetings, sponsored by PSU’s Center for Rural Partnerships, allow various speakers to make presentations on the health and wellness concerns throughout the state. They are intended not only as an informational gathering, but also as a chance for attendees to meet and interact with leaders in the field of rural health and wellness. For more information, contact the Center for Rural Partnerships at (603) 535-3275. |
