Grassroots Reception with Congressman Paul HodesSat, 01/27/2007 - 7:00pm Puritan Back Room (245 Hooksett Road, Manchester, NH 03104) New Hampshire Congressman Paul Hodes will address community activists at a grassroots reception hosted by Democracy for New Hampshire on Saturday, January 27th. The event coincides with the DFA Grassroots Training Academy offered over the same weekend. Registration for the training includes tickets to the reception. Tickets for those wishing to attend the reception only will be available at the door for a suggested contribution of $20 to cover the cost of the event. Please RSVP to political@democracyfornewhampshire.com by Friday, January 26th at Noon so that we may print a name badge for you and provide a head count to the venue. (Tickets will still be available at the door to those who have not RSVP'd.) Congressman Hodes will share updates of his work so far in the 110th Congress as well as discuss the impact of the grassroots on political campaigns and the policy process, a topic of particular interest to DFNH members. Light refreshments will be provided. The training features experienced campaign professionals and covers practical strategies and tactics in areas such as communications, fundraising, voter targeting, online organizing, and building a sustainable grassroots movement. The program is designed to be practical and immediately useful in community organizing activities. These are important skills for people who are likely to volunteer with presidential primary campaigns. Anyone considering a run for local office in March or November '07 will also gain valuable skills. An additional component of the training is a special track for legislators on Sunday afternoon, January 28th. These sessions will include: - Modes of Communication for a Legislative District - Constituent Contact and Service - Making the most of the Legislative Session - Preparing for the Next Campaign - Building An Incumbency Action Plan RSVP to the training and/or the reception to political@democracyfornewhampshire.com.
