Film screening: The End of Suburbia

Wed, 08/17/2005 - 6:15pm

Peterborough Town Library, 2 Concord St., Pboro
Volunteer political committee Swing the Vote concludes its video series “Building real national security – the alternatives to war” with this thought-provoking film that examines the impact of the coming oil shortage (known as "peak oil") on the American way of life. "The End of Suburbia" considers what can be done now, individually and collectively, to lessen the economic, political and personal turmoil that will result with the end of cheap and abundant oil. The event is free and open to the general public.
A post-film discussion will build on recent local efforts to establish a regional think tank and other projects designed to proactively address challenges faced by the issue. Swing the Vote’s petition to end the Iraq occupation and fund real national security is available at www.swingthevote.us.
