Forum on the Iraq WarThu, 07/21/2005 - 7:00pm Institute of Art, 148 Concord Street, Manchester FORUM ON THE IRAQ WAR with Gold Star Families for Peace members Cindy Sheehan and Brian Hart MANCHESTER, NH: Cindy Sheehan and Brian Hart, two parents whose sons were soldiers killed in Iraq, will lead a discussion on the Iraq war at the NH Institute of Art, 148 Concord Street, on Thursday, July 21, at 7 pm. Cindy Sheehan is a co-founding member of Gold Star Families for Peace. Cindy lost her son Casey in Iraq on April 4, 2004. She testified at the Downing Street Memo hearings in June 2005, and was interviewed on Larry King Live following President Bush’s address from Fort Bragg on June 28. She will also discuss a private meeting she had with President Bush at the White House following Casey’s death. Brian Hart lost his son John in October 2003 in Iraq. Prior to and in the wake of his son’s death, Brian actively supported the war. He has been heavily involved in lobby and grassroots outreach efforts to make sure US troops and vehicles in Iraq have sufficient armor and protection, and has worked with Senator Kennedy’s office on these issues. “Regardless of one’s position on the war, Americans need to stop being silent and engage in respectful dialogue about an occupation that is now costing the lives of almost 100 US forces a month. We need to create space for an open and thoughtful discussion on the war that involves, and is the responsibility of, all Americans,” says Hart. There will be time for questions, discussion, and debate. This event is supported by New Hampshire Peace Action, Veterans for Peace, and American Friends Service Committee. For more information, contact Anne Miller at 228-0559. It is free and open to the public. By jan pendlebury at 07/15/2005 - 18:37 | Miscellaneous | War | login or register to post comments | calendar
