Strategic Planning for Healthcare Reform: The Maine Example

Presented by Amy Thompson, Maine People's Alliance

Wednesday, May 25th
Exeter Library, 7-9 pm

Free and Open to the Public

Amy Thompson, a seasoned community organizer and now the Director of Development at the Maine Peoples Alliance will share the Maine experience of healthcare reform. We will hear first-hand how Maine People's Alliance played a leading role in the legislative campaign of passing Dirigo Health. She will talk about this incremental campaign in the context of their longer-term movement for universal single payer health care in Maine.

Maine People's Alliance has organized a small business coalition that has grown to 1600 businesses, which is larger than Maine's State Chamber of Commerce and Amy will give us particular insight and tips on the hows and whys of small business organizing. She will be joined by Maine small business owner David White, a leader in the MPA campaign for single payer, the passage of Dirigo Health and also a seat-holder on one of the Dirigo Health governing boards.

Co-sponsored by New Hampshire Citizens Alliance and Seacoast Progressive Alliance
