Paul JohnsonElection results... and the task ahead, by Paul Johnson
Despite great help from DFNH and Nashua area supporters, I'm sorry to report that I lost my first campaign by 117 votes, out of over 14,000 ballots cast.
While it's an emotional letdown to learn I won't be able to serve in the Legislature this session, the experience has reaffirmed my committment to fight for ethics in government, for fairness for the people - particularly those who are neediest - and to make our state better. And we scored some great victories in other DFNH Dozen races: Maggie Hassan's defeat of Senator Russell Prescott, and Debora Pignatelli's victory over Exec Councilor Dave Wheeler, being probably the two most-important races where DFNH played a significant role. The election is over... but the real work of making positive change begins now - and DFNH can play a vital role... if YOU help. It's thrilling to see how DFNH, in a matter of months, geared up to become an effective grassroots force in New Hampshire's political landscape. And one that, unlike the "527's", will be here tomorrow, next week, and next year, focused on our own state and the Progressive values we hold dear. read full story By paul at 11/03/2004 - 18:46 | Candidates | Paul Johnson | login or register to post comments | read more
Paul Johnson on AM radioFri, 10/22/2004 - 7:00am Hi friends and supporters, You're invited to listen in (and call in) during WSMN's Talkline show on Friday Oct 22 between 8:10AM and 9:00 AM. I'm the sole guest for the hour. Hostess Georgi Hippauf of Nashua does a nice daily community affairs program every day during this time slot, focused on Nashua and surrounding towns. It's a nice break from Public Radio, and covers some interesting topics. Georgi is a Republican and her audience seems to lean that way a bit, but she's invited me on as one of about a half-dozen legislative candidates leading up to the election - and the only Democrat so far. You're invited to call in, ask a question or make a point! The number is 882-1590. I'm not asking for "plant" calls, but the program will be more interesting and effective if there is a dialog between area residents, Georgi and me that explores interesting topics, instead of just the two of us in the studio exchanging pleasantries. The focus will be on state and local topics, not on the national election or federal issues. Topics I'd like to address on the show include: By ntobi at 10/21/2004 - 20:35 | Candidates | DFNH | Paul Johnson | login or register to post comments | calendar
Nashua racetrack
DFNH Dozen candidate Paul Johnson is sending out the following alert to his potential constituents:
Attention all residents of Nashua - especially those in Wards 8 & 9: A plan has been proposed to build a massive complex on 150 acres behind the Sheraton Nashua hotel off Spit Brook Road. This complex will include: Visit Paul's "stop the racetrack" website for more information. By ntobi at 10/12/2004 - 12:31 | Candidates | DFNH | Paul Johnson | login or register to post comments
Help Paul Johnson win
Paul Johnson for State Representative (District 26)
Paul's district encompasses Nashua Wards 5, 8 and 9 and includes the entire corner of Nashua south of the Nashua river and west of the Everett Turnpike, extending to the Hollis and Mass borders. Also the apartments and condos along DW Highway South. Paul needs your help in order to win. There are Visibility, Canvassing and Phoning shifts every weekend between now and election day. If you can volunteer just ONCE for 2-3 hours you can help enormously! And your efforts will be multiplied: all volunteer activities support two other great candidates as well: Deb Pignatelli (another DFNH Dozen) and Paul Hodes. Dozen Direct: Paul Johnson
Paul Johnson for State Rep
(Nashua Wards 5, 8 and 9) This is a campaign update from Paul Johnson, running for State Rep in Nashua's largest district. I'm a small business owner and lifelong Independent, inspired by Howard Dean to join with the Democrats and run for public office. I'm honored to be endorsed as a "DFNH Dozen" candidate, and I've been working hard to earn a seat in the Legislature. My top goal is to help bring balance to state government - to help end the overwhelming one-party dominance that considers only one side of every issue, stifles debate, harms our most vulnerable citizens, and endangers our environment. And that consistently strives to shift the tax burden onto the poor and middle-class. As an independent, I'll focus on finding bi-partisan, fair, and sensible "win-win" solutions that do right for Nashua and for the people of our State. But I will not be shy! I'll speak up and tell the truth about the tough issues. I'll fight for good - not merely "adequate" - education for our children... for strong environmental protection... expanded access to affordable health care - including repeal of S.B. 110... and fair election laws. And I'll fight to preserve the state's safety net for seniors, children, the poor, and the physically and mentally ill. Paul Johnson seeks volunteers for primary

I am looking for volunteers for visibility on Monday for morning and evening rush hours at Exit 1 (Spit Brook Rd) and Exit 5 (West Hollis St), and would welcome volunteers at the three polling places on Tuesday. Polls are at Bicentennial School on E. Dunstable Rd, New Searles School (off E. Dunstable) and Main Dunstable school on Main Dunstable Rd. Polls are open 6AM to 8PM but given the anticipated low turnout peak hour visibility is most important — 6-9, 11:30-1:30, and 5-7. Paul Johnson for State Representative (District 26) Paul Johnson (House District 26, Hillsborough County) is a Nashua resident and co-founder of DFNH. After almost 30 years as an Independent, Paul has joined the Democratic party for his first campaign for public office. He seeks to bring balance to state government, and cites the need for social responsibility as well as fiscal responsibility. He takes the position that our children deserve better than a merely "adequate" education, and will work for fair, sensible and consistent school funding. He'll fight for strong evironmental policies, expanded access to affordable health care, fair election laws, and to preserve the state's safety net for its poorest and weakest citizens.Paul Johnson for State Rep 44 Browning Ave. Nashua, NH 03062 (603) 321-1062 pauljohnson@nashuademocrats.com www.paulfornashua.com By roger at 09/01/2004 - 10:47 | Candidates | Education | Environment | Fair elections | Health care | Poverty | Paul Johnson | login or register to post comments
